Open Data Roadmap

CivicaDigital Final Technical Report (2016)

During this project we worked with Open Data players around the world in order to create an Open Data Roadmap for the Community. We used the International Open Data Conference as hub where we learned where the community is at and where is going. The result of this research is represented in a website and a written report. For coming up with this Roadmap, the main topics in the Open Data Community were analyzed, per Topics, Actions and Regions. As an outcome of our research, we want our community to work on the following actions:
  • Broaden political commitment to open data principles
  • Identify and adopt user-centric open standards
  • Build capacity to produce and effectively use open data
  • Strengthen networks to address common challenges
  • Make action on open data movement more evidence-based
  • Use open data to support the sustainable development agenda
  • Connect with local communities

The OD4D program is hosted at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and co-funded by the Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and the Hewlett Foundation.
